Every year seems to come with its own “word.” Not a new word—just one you’ve always known but never really claimed as part of your daily language. And then suddenly, there it is… everywhere. Spoken in meetings. Written in captions. Echoing in conversations until it becomes part of your own rhythm. I remember the year everyone said “curate.” I understood it but never reached for it—until it began reaching for me. The same applies to this past year.
For me, 2025 has been the *year of the pivot.*
And not just for me—so many people in the legal world are shifting, stretching, realigning, and choosing again. I’m hearing the word every day. I’m using it every day. Pivot.
While everyone was crafting New Year’s resolutions, I was setting New Year’s intentions—a gentle shift suggested by a mentor who reminded me that resolutions imply something is wrong, while intentions invite possibility. So, I set my intention, handed it to the universe, and whispered, “It’s this… or something better.”
Somewhere deep in my soul, I knew it was time to pivot.
But HOW?
With honesty.
With open‑mindedness.
With willingness.
If you know, you know.
And that’s when Angelegal, LLC was made.
Not born—made. Some people are born for what they do. Others are forged by what they’ve walked through, survived, learned, and rebuilt. I’m in the latter camp. Someone wiser than me once said we always know the right thing to do—the hard part is doing it. And they were right.
I knew Angelegal was possible long before I had the courage to create it. I was terrified. But fear, as I’ve learned, is often a mile wide and an inch deep—false evidence appearing real. Once I stepped through it, everything changed.
Now, almost a year later, leaving what some might call a “prominent” role to build something entirely my own remains one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Angelegal gives me the freedom to focus on meaningful work—to say yes only to the clients and causes I’m passionate about.
Personally, my heart has been pulled toward women’s mental and physical health, speaking out against toxic relationships, domestic violence, and teen violence.
Professionally, I’ve embraced projects centered on medspa legal compliance, serving as what I jokingly (but proudly) call an “atmosphere model” at conferences, becoming a hype woman for visionaries I admire, and continuing my love for legal education through webinars and live speaking engagements.
And let me tell you—legal and technical speaking is the easy part. The most terrifying talk I’ve ever given? A group of 6th graders… on “Confidence.”
The pivot didn’t just change my direction—it gave me Angelegal.
The name honors my last name—Angelo—while anchoring me in the legal world I love. It also pays tribute to the guardian angel who walked beside me throughout the creation of this company.
Angelegal has been battle‑tested, and now it is my battle cry.
All because I chose to pivot.
Don’t be afraid to pivot.
It’s this… or something better.
